Red Tail Trail West Loop Aug 2018

The town founders of Hidden Springs set out to create a community residents would be proud to call home by establishing a set of founding principles - several of which mention and embrace the concept of open space set aside for wildlife, scenic values, agriculture, and recreation enjoyment.

The Open Space Committee updated the 2009 Open Space and Trails Concept Master Plan in 2017.  The community was invited to comment January 30 through March 9, 2017.  No comments were received from residents by either the Town Office or the Town Council.  The Open Space Committee uses the Plan as a guide for projects to be considered and for recommendation to the Town Council for implementation.  The Red Tail Trail west loop was included in the Open Space and Trails Concept Master Plan 2017 planning document.

In collaboration with Ada County Parks and Waterways, Ridge to Rivers, Idaho Fish and Game, and the Land Trust of the Treasure Valley, Hidden Springs Open Space proposes moving forward with construction of the Red Tail west loop in the Northern Uplands, above the slide and only on HSTA / Ada County land, heading west and then south to the Currant Creek bridge.  Hidden Springs Town Association would grant an easement for this proposed Ridge to Rivers trail.  This trail would be constructed by Ada County Parks and Ridge to Rivers and maintained by Ridge to Rivers. In the future, the Red Tail west loop will provide a connection from the existing Red Tail trail down and across McFarland Creek to Avimor property; this is the second phase of a larger plan to connect to Avimor trails to the north.

In addition to the comment period in 2017, the Open Space Committee welcomes your comments and suggestions regarding of the Red Tail west loop in the Northern Uplands above the slide and only on HSTA / Ada County land, heading west and then south to the Currant Creek bridge. Comments may be submitted to the Hidden Springs Town office at hsta@hiddensprings.com, voiced in person at the Open Space Meeting September 4th or Open Space Meeting October 2nd.  All Comments must be received by the end of the comment period, close of business (6:30 pm) on Thursday, October 4, 2018.

Please contact the Town Office, 208-229-2326 or hsta@hiddensprings.com for more information about Open Space or the North Creek Trail.
